What do I need?
First of all you DON'T need an iPod although that is where podcasting gets its name. What you do need is a piece of software called a podcast receiver. Some of the most commonly used podcast receivers appear below.

iTunes: New in iTunes 4.9 you can now manage your podcast subscriptions directly in iTunes the same way you manage your playlists. ITunes is free and works with both Macintosh and Windows computers. http://www.apple.com/itunes/

IPodder: iPodder is free and works with Windows XP, Mac OSX, and Linux. http://ipodder.sourceforge.net/

IPodderX: iPodderX is designed for the Mac. There is a "Lite" version, which is free as well as a premium version available for a fee. http://ipodderx.com/
